Dro Recalls T.I.’s Son Rescuing Him From Near-Fatal Overdose

Recently, T.I. and Young Dro recalled the near-fatal episode while appearing on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ The rappers discussed how Tip Harris’ son, Domani Harris, intervened after the Atlanta artist claimed he was on borrowed time.

“Man, I’m on borrowed time. You feel me? I’m not supposed to be sitting here doing this interview,” Dro said.

During the interview, Tip confirmed that he saw the ‘Shoulder Lean’ rapper lifeless while Domani showed him Dro’s unresponsive state during a FaceTime call.

“I saw him lifeless. I saw it with my own eyes. Not in person, but my son, Domani, was actually the one that walked in and saw him,” T.I. explained. He FaceTimed me and said, ‘Hey, what up with Dro?’ I’m tryna wake him up, he won’t wake up.’ I’m like, ‘Dro! Dro! Aye man.’”

The 45-year-old stated that Domani’s efforts to wake him brought him back to consciousness. “That’s what woke me up. I was like, ‘This n***a so annoying!’”Dro continued. “I heard him say, ‘What’s wrong?,’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know!’” Additionally, the ‘FDB’ musician revealed that Domani performed CPR on him and joked that he almost “broke his chest” during the process.

More Details On Dro’s Sobriety Journey

In January 2023, Dro, formerly known as D’Juan Montrel Hart, opened up about being sober and feeling great because of it, HipHopDX reports. In a VladTV interview, he acknowledged that he needed to work on staying sober every day and shared that he was 100 percent clean of everything.

“Seventeen months. I’m working on my two years. Tough, too. I think my mindset changed. It’s still a struggle to actually maintain this because I still live a Hip Hop party life. I go out at night. I pay my bills out of clubs and concerts where my peers are smoking and drinking, popping champagne. And that lifestyle is still there,” he said.

During the conversation, he mentioned that his father battled addiction, which kept him from being involved in Dro’s life. He also shared that addiction affected his mother’s side of the family, claiming the lives of five of her six siblings.

“My father is a good guy but his addiction led him to not being present. And that’s one of the things that made… I wanted to be [different] from that. When I saw myself in the grips of it, I was very upset and I fought with that for a long time in my career.”
