What Is The RNC & How To Watch It?

The RNC is when Republican delegates from each state come together to nominate a person for the presidential ticket. For four days, there will be receptions, brunches, events, and over 100 speakers.

CBS News reports that the first session of the RNC was scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m. ET. Moreover, local CBS stations will stream nightly coverage of the keynote speakers. As previously reported, Amber Rose is one of a few surprising picks who will take the stage this week at the RNC. Former Trump critic Nikki Haley will also speak on behalf of her past competitor.

Two notable Trump family members not on the RNC agenda include Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump. The former First Lady shared a message after the attempt on her husband, but she is not slated to campaign on his behalf this week.

Donald Trump Secures GOP Nomination & Selects Vice President

Trump is also expected to accept his nomination for the ticket at the RNC. According to the Associated Press, the GOP nominated Trump at the top of the Republican National Convention kickoff on Monday.

He reportedly received the majority of the votes needed to secure the nomination, including in his home state of Florida. This marks the third consecutive election that Donald will represent the Republican party in the race for the White House.

Additionally, on Monday, Trump announced his vice president pick, Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio. He is reportedly the first millennial to join a major-party ticket, per AP.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
