Caitlin Clark Gets Signature Nike Deal Before A’ja Wlson

It’s being reported that Caitlin Clark may have recently been awarded an 8-figure shoe deal with Nike but it doesn’t come without backlash.

Daily Mail reports sports commentator Jemele Hill believes Caitlin deserves her deal, but A’ja Wilson, who is “arguably the best player in the WNBA,” should have her own too.

Social media agrees.

A’ja not only made TIME Magazine’s list of the ‘100 Most Influential People in the World,’ but she is also a New York Times best-selling author. Not to mention the championship titles A’ja’s earned in the WNBA and in college.

The social media consensus believes the 27-year-old is well-deserving of a shoe. Although they do believe Caitlin’s Nike deal has been well-earned, they believe it’s a slap in the face that A’ja is going without.

Both ladies were the first draft pick after entering the WNBA draft.

What Did Jemele Hill Say?

Only two other WNBA players have signature shoes — Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. Both also happen to be White women.

Sports journalist Jemele Hill  said, “I didn’t say any of these players didn’t deserve their own shoe.”

Her tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, continued, “I’m just surprised arguably the best player in the WNBA — a best-selling author and someone Time put on their 100-most influential list — doesn’t have her own shoe.”

Social Media Reacts

@hersheywrites wrote, “We have to work twice as hard for HALF …”

“Clark isn’t why [women’s] basketball has hype right now. Honestly, LSU did that,” @only_quayquay said.

@asongcalledlifepodcast said, “People caring about the WNBA is as much of a miracle as turning water into wine, but somehow it’s turned into pitting two women against each other.. can’t say I expected anything less.”

“A’JA IS HER. Final answer,” @fanatics commented.

@tiffanylashay___ said, “What’s delayed is not denied!! Aja is the face of the WNBA… and if you just started watching women’s basketball in the last 2 years sit this one out!!!”

Wilson’s Winning Career

A’ja joined the WNBA in 2018 and fans say she is well-deserving of a Nike sneaker. She is not only a two-time WNBA champion but also a two-time MVP. Additionally, she is a five-time All-Star and has been awarded Defensive Player of the Year.

The girl has accolades.

Furthermore, the Aces’ superstar won a championship in 2017 as a college player with the South Carolina Gamecocks. This was the team’s first NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship title. In addition, she was awarded National Player of the Year.

Moreover, she was the Naismith Award winner that year also. What do y’all think, Roommates?
