Tupac Shakur & Rashida Jones’ Heated Exchanged Via The Source

Tupac made the appalling statements in the 1993 issue of The Source. The 22-year-old harshly criticized the highly decorated music producer, stating, “All he does is stick his d*** in white b****** and make f***** up kids.” Rashida and her sister Kidada Jones’ mom was the actor Peggy Lipton. The late thespian is well-known for her roles in ‘Twin Peaks‘ and ‘The Mod Squad.’

Rashida, who was 17 years old then, wrote a response to Pac’s vitriol. It was published in the follow-up issue of the hip hop mag three months later.

Recently, she spoke to The New Yorker and reflected on her feelings at the time, “…I was so mad. It was a new perspective to me.”

UPROXX reports Rashida fiercely defended her father. She stated that Quincy was the reason that artists like Tupac had a platform to create their art. The then-teenager said Tupac’s “ignorance” was evident, and he had a “lack of respect for his people.” Rashida said her music mogul father should “live his life” without being judged. She felt that “who he loves” was nobody’s bidness but his.

“It just felt like a completely unwarranted attack,” the ‘Sound of Silence’ actress said.

However, things took a turn when Kidada ran into the entertainer in NYC. Tupac mistook Kidada for her sister Rashida.

She explained, “[he] came up to her because he thought it was me.” In ‘Q: The Autobiography of Quincy Jones,’ Kidada recalled the encounter with the ‘Only God Can Judge Me’ rapper.

Tupac Forms A Romantic Relationship With Rashida’s Sister

“I met Tupac at a club after that, and he said, ‘I want to apologize to you. I didn’t mean that about your dad or you.” she wrote. She said the ‘Do For Love’ rapper claimed, “[he] didn’t see [them] as real human beings.” Kidada added, “he was all game” but “liked him.” She also admitted that she didn’t initially tell her father about their romance because she thought he would trip.

HuffPost reports Rashida recalled that their rift “resolved itself really nicely.”

When they all met, Tupac “immediately apologized to me, immediately apologized to my dad,” and they “sat down and had a really good conversation about it.” Rashida said after that, “[Tupac] was family.”

Her sister Kidada and the legendary rapper lived together until he was murdered in 1996. As previously reported by The Shade Room, Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis was arrested in connection with Tupac’s murder on Sept. 29, 2023. He has entered a plea of not guilty. Davis’ trial is set to start Nov. 4.
