The Roommates shared their opinion under The Shade Room’s social media post.

@justinlaboy quipped, “They gave bro a trophy #Respectfully.”

“Now where’s the grown up one,” @kilenas.g added.

@c.ray.art stated, “His chain bigger than the statue.”

Other social media goers understood.

@oldscoolt said, “It’s a very nice statue! People have to remember it’s NOT a stand alone statue. It’s among a long line of other Sixer greats that adorn the front of the facility and they’re ALL the same size.”

Additionally, some commentators appreciated this honor but felt he deserved more.

“I love the recognition, but let’s not forget this man [changed] the identity of basketball and put Philadelphia on a whole nother level !! Statue in front of the arena, please !!” @_wayneeeee wrote.

At the unveiling ceremony, the former NBA MVP shared his feelings about the honor, per NBA.

“I love these people and they love me back. They honor the fact that I gave everything I had, night in and night out. And I loved the fact that they supported me through all these years.”
